TEDDY SMOYER
OF HENDRIX COLLEGE, a 6-1, 185-pound junior
right-hander from Simi Valley, Calif., has been selected the SCAC
Baseball Pitcher-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, March 21
through Sunday, March 27.
Smoyer fired a three-hit complete game (9.0
innings) shutout to lead the Warriors to a 5-0 win over No. 10
Trinity on a cold and damp Saturday afternoon at Warrior
Field. Smoyer tossed a gem for his
second-straight win over a Top-25 team. He pitched a no-hitter
through the first 4.2 innings and allowed just one walk over the
stretch.
Smoyer fanned six batters, forced 13 flyouts
and six grounders in 31 batters faced. He posted a 3.60 ERA in
two appearances (one in relief) during the week. He currently leads
the league with two complete games, ranks second with 42.0 innings
in SCAC play, and is second in the SCAC with 37 strikeouts.
