Mike Clary begins his third year as the Head Women's Golf Coach. Coach Clary also will be serving in his 19th year as the Director of Athletics.

In the 2nd year under Coach Clary's leadership, the Lynx jumped from a 7th place finish in 2007 in the SCAC Championship to a 3rd place finish in 2008. "We have four of our top five players back from our 08 team. We'll have to play our best golf, but the 09 team will have a legitimate chance to compete for the SCAC title," said Coach Clary.

The 2008 post-season saw freshman Stephanie Mingos put the Rhodes Women's Golf program back in the national spotlight. Mingos shot a one-under 71 to lead after the 1st round of the 2008 Division III tournament. She went on to finish 5th out of 111 participants and she was the top freshman in the field.

Rhodes has a strong tradition of excellence in Women's Golf. The Lynx placed 3rd at the 2000 NCAA Division III National Championships. The team followed that performance with another 3rd place finish in 2001 and a 5th place finish in 2002 at the NCAA tournament. Emily Burch was the national runnerup at the 2001 NCAA tournament. "The goal for our Women's Golf program is to return to the national prominence we enjoyed a few years ago," said Coach Clary. "We took a step last year with Stephanie Mingos' performance in the 2008 NCAA tournament. Our next goal will be for our team to qualify."

Clary is a 1977 graduate of Rhodes where he majored in Biology. He was a three-year starter for the Lynx in football and also played on the 1977 golf team which captured the College Athletic Conference Championship. Coach Clary served as Rhodes Head Football Coach from 1984-96 and is the all-time winningest coach in Rhodes history. He also served as Head Men's Track Coach from 1980-90 and the Head Swimming Coach from 2003-05.

Mike and his wife Nancy have two children, Brian and Julie, who are both Rhodes graduates. Coach Clary is beginning his 30th year on the athletic staff at Rhodes.
