Mari Prazak of Austin College, a freshman libero from Fort Worth, Texas, has been named SCAC Volleyball Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Tuesday, September 4th to Sunday September 9th.
Prazak had an outstanding weekend for Austin College, averaging 5.09 digs-per-set in three matches while recording at least 16 digs in each contest. Against McMurry, Prazak recorded a season high of 23 digs while also adding seven service aces to the sheet.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore outside hitter Annie Rose Leggett double-digit digs in four of the five matches this week, highlighted by a 19-dig performance in a 3-2 loss to UT-Dallas to close out the week. She also piled up 14 assists and seven service aces to go with 2.85 digs/set over the week. Freshmen libero Peyton Sulak of Texas Lutheran totaled nine blocks in four matches, including three and five block performances against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and Concordia University Texas, respectively. Sulak covered the back court well, picking up 31 digs for the Bulldogs. Junior setter Lizzy Counts averaged 2.58 digs and 0.42 blocks per set while leading No. 2 Colorado College to four consecutive victories at the 2018 Spike It Up Classic at Reid Arena. In the three-set thrashing of No. 12 Pacific Lutheran, Counts produced 14 digs and had a hand in a pair of blocked shots as the Tigers held the Lutes to a -.031 hitting percentage.
