BRANDI CAMPOS OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a junior defensive specialist from San Antonio, Texas, has been named SCAC Volleyball Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Tuesday, September 12th through Saturday, September 16th.
Campos added 61 digs to her stat sheet this weekend. She also tacked on seven assists and four aces on the weekend.
Campos averaged nearly five digs per set as the Pirates went 4-0 over the weekend, including a 3-1 win over No. 11 Wisconsin-Whitewater.
Other impressive performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore setter Jaci Chambers of Texas Lutheran University averaged 5.43 digs per set and earned a career-high 28 digs in a 3-1 win over East Texas Baptist. Senior setter Katie Ingle of Austin College set a new career-high 21 digs in a five-set match against Hendrix College. Junior outside hitter Sarah Mullens of Trinity University was named co-MVP of the Trinity Fall Classic tournament after tallying 54 digs and seven service aces over the weekend. Sophomore middle hitter Marguerite Spaethling of Colorado College had a hand at 12 blocked shots during the weekend's tournament averaging .86 per set.
