Caroline Kutach and Megan Flores of Trinity University, have been named the SCAC Women’s Doubles Team of the Week for matches played from Monday, February 18 through Sunday, February 24.
Kutach, a senior from McGregor, Texas, and Flores, a freshman from Houstin, Texas, led the 21st-ranked Tiger women’s tennis team to a 2-1 record that included a win over No. 13 Washington-St. Louis last week, The duo helped Trinity sweep doubles - and the match - against East Texas Baptist to start the week, then scored the only doubles point of the match for the Tigers against Washington. Kutach and Flores won 8-6 to make it a 1-1 match at the time, setting up Trinity for the 5-4 win later in the day. The team’s only loss came against Division I opponent Incarnate Word, a narrow 7-5 loss.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior pair M.P Hubert and Madison Dyer of Texas Lutheran picked up an 8-2 road victory in the No. 1 doubles slot against Mary Hardin-Baylor. Southwestern junior/sophomore duo Cecile Wilde and Esther Bowers went 2-1 on the week, defeating opponents from Schreiner and Sul Ross State.
