SYDNEY FRIDAY
OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior right-hander from
Sugarland, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Softball
Pitcher-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, March 18 through
Sunday, March 24.
Friday led the Tigers to a four-game SCAC sweep
over the weekend, defeating Dallas to move into first place in the
SCAC standings.
Friday was 1-0 and gave up just three hits in her two appearances this weekend, striking out 10 batters and yielding just one walk. She did not allow a run in seven innings of work, highlighted by a one-hit shutout in the opening game.
In the series opener, Friday struck out nine
batters and held Dallas to an infield single through five innings,
narrowly missing her first career no-hitter. She started the series
finale as well, but came out after two innings with the Tigers
leading 9-0.
