– The Centenary Department of Athletics and Director of Athletics and Wellness Ronda Seagraves announces the hiring of Amanda Nordberg as the head softball coach, effective January 1st.

"I am honored to work at Centenary College because I feel that our goals and values are the same," Nordberg said. "I love softball and it is always more fun when you win, but we will win and lose with class and integrity while striving to grow our athletes into honorable and well-educated members of society.  Our 'Ladies' will be successful on and off the field."

Nordberg, who replaces Mark Lambert, joins Centenary after one season as an assistant coach at Bossier Parish Community College, where she served as the pitching coach under head coach Ashley Grisham.

"The Centenary College Athletic Department is excited to name Amanda Nordberg as the new head softball coach. After a national search, which identified several strong candidates, Amanda Nordberg stood out as an outstanding coach and leader for our softball team," said Seagraves. "Coach Nordberg brings to the Ladies experience as a collegiate player and coach who has succeeded as a player, instructor and coach. Her softball success, knowledge and accomplishments speak for themselves.  I look forward to working with Amanda Nordberg as  she leads the Centenary softball team into the future.

"I want to thank Mark Lambert for his work at Centenary and wish him success as he takes over the Byrd High School softball coaching position."

Nordberg joined the Lady Cavaliers coaching staff after spending the fall as a graduate assistant at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff where she played her final season while completing her Master’s degree in Addiction Studies. During her time at UAPB, she assisted the Lady Lions to a Southwestern Athletic Conference Tournament berth.

Prior to playing for UAPB, she played three years at the University of Arkansas at Monticello where she helped guide the Blossoms to a school record 55-13 season as a sophomore en route to a Gulf South Conference Championship, a NCAA Division II Regional Championship and a NCAA Division II Super Regional Finalist.

Nordberg was a four-time National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-American Scholar as she graduated Magna Cum Laude at UAM with a 3.83 GPA with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration. She received All-GSC honors as well as GSC Softball Pitcher of the Week as a sophomore after going 19-3 and unblemished in conference play in the circle. That same season, the Blossoms were recognized as having the highest team GPA in the nation among four year universities. She holds top ten career pitching records at UAM in career wins, career appearances, career games started, career innings pitched, and career strikeouts. She completed her career with a 31-8 record averaging six strikeouts per seven innings pitched.
