HARRY BELLOW OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior from Humble, Texas, has been named the SCAC Track Athlete of the Week for meets held through Sunday, April 14th.
Bellow ran two new personal bests at the UCSD Triton Invitational in the 1500 and 5000m run. His marks of 3:57.26 and 15:19.30 lead the conference in both events.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior Tony Calderon of Colorado College ran the 10K at the Wichita State Track Invitational, posting a time of 31:41.60 and placing fourth in this mostly NCAA Division II field. The time beat his previous best of 32:47 and places him 50th in the 10k in the country (Division III) and number one in the SCAC. Sophomore Dillan Wendel of Texas Lutheran battled the high winds at the UIW Invitational meet in San Antonio to post a new school record and the top spot in the SCAC in the 800 meters. His time of 1:56.97 earned him fourth overall in the collegiate race, in which only Division I runners finished ahead of him. Junior Kevin McGuirk of Dallas led the way for the Crusaders, setting a new school and personal record in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing eight with a time of 56.41. McGuirk also grabbed a PR in the 110-meter hurdles (17.22) and the 100-meter dash (11.63) in his career debut in the race.
