WILSON HAMILTON OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a freshman from Austin, Texas, has been named the SCAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week for matches played through Sunday, February 18th.
Hamilton went 2-0 this past weekend in singles play. He first defeated Division II St. Edward's at line two with a 6-1,1-6, 6-1 three set victory. His win allowed the Tigers to stay in the match and eventually help the Tigers to a 5-4 team win.
On Saturday, Hamilton played at the top singles spot and grabbed a strong 6-2, 6-4 win over a top junior college opponent.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior Grant Gideon of Southwestern University got the lone win this weekend against UTPB, battling back after losing set one as well as an early deficit in set two to take the match 5-7, 7-6, 10-7. Junior Kenneth Hardy of Austin College led the 'Roo's to a victory over Whitworth, the #19 team in the West Region, in the team's lone match of the week. Hardy won at line one singles 7-6 (10-8), 4-6, 6-2 in a hard-fought match.
