LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Five SCAC men's teams were in action this past week, highlighted by a lone conference match as Southwestern traveled to Colorado College.
Southwestern (6-0; 4-0 SCAC) defeated Colorado College (0-2; 0-1 SCAC), 8-1, in an away conference match on Saturday afternoon. The Pirates swept all three doubles matches, with an 8-6 victory from Carlos Esteban Rodero and Drew Shuvalov over Jack Delafield and Andrew Kaelin in the No. 1 spot highlighting play. In singles, CC's Sam Hum picked up a 6-3, 6-3 victory over SU's Vesko Lekovic in the No. 1 spot, but the Pirates swept from No. 2 to No. 6, including Hunter Bajoit besting Delafield in the No. 2 position by a score of 7-5, 6-4. In the most closely contested match in singles play, Southwestern's Anton Borovik defeated Jacob Adas in a hard-fought match 6-2, 5-7, 10-3 at No. 6.
Trinity (6-6; 1-0 SCAC) remained undefeated against Division III opposition, sweeping Concordia (Texas) and University of Ozarks on Friday and Sunday, respectively, in non-conference play. In the victory over Concordia (Texas), junior Christian Settles defeated the Tornados' Jorge Garcia for Trinity's fifth and match-clinching point from the sixth slot, 6-1, 6-0. On Sunday, the Tigers collected their third-straight NCAA III shutout Sunday afternoon with a 9-0 decision over University of the Ozarks. Trinity posted 6-0, 6-0 decisions in lines one through five of singles action, allowing just five games to the visiting Eagles for the match. Sophomore Hao Nguyen and Settles led the doubles portion with an 8-0 mark for their third victory in line one action in their last four matches. The pair then separated to represent two of the five clean sweeps in lines one and four, respectively.
Schreiner (3-7; 0-1 SCAC) split its two non-conference matches, losing 8-1 to Concordia (Texas) on Saturday before bouncing back with a 9-0 sweep of Sul Ross State on Sunday. The Mountaineers allowed just one point total in taking doubles, 8-1 at No. 1, 8-0 at No. 2 and 8-0 at No. 3. Cole Reed posted a 6-0, 6-0 sweep at No. 6 singles while Garrett Govea and Giovanny Barrigan each earned 6-1, 6-1 victories at No. 4 and No. 5 singles, respectively.
In other action, Austin College (3-4; 1-1 SCAC) dropped a pair of non-conference road matches - 7-2 to East Texas Baptist on Saturday and 8-1 to LeTourneau on Saturday.
