Men's Lacrosse Recap (Week 9) - Around the SCAC

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - The stage is set. On April 26th, Colorado College and Southwestern will meet for the SCAC Men's Lacrosse Championship in Georgetown, Texas. The Tigers took down the Centenary Gents 26-0 this past weekend in the only competition of the week. The Pirates and Tigers will meet for the third time in two weeks with Colorado College winning the two earlier contests.









Centenary took its second, Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference setback of the season falling 26-0 at Colorado College on Saturday afternoon. The Gents (0-9, 0-2 SCAC) took seven shots in the contest led by two each from Garrett Wick and Alex Vandruff. Orin Redwood, Demri Robinson and Parker Duff combined for the three remaining attempts. Bastien Hay (0-9) played all 60 minutes between the pipes for the Maroon and White recording seven saves on the afternoon. Centenary returns to action on Saturday, Apr. 19 as they travel to Southwestern University.

First-year attackmen Stephen Petersilge and Will Grossman combined for 11 goals and 15 points to Colorado College to a 26-0 victory over Centenary College on Saturday at Washburn Field. Petersilge finished with six tallies and assisted on three others, while Grossman struck for five markers and added an assist. In all, CC’s freshmen were involved in 17 of the team’s season-high 26 goals and finished with 22 points. Midfielder Brad Hale, one of six freshmen in the starting lineup, struck early for the only goal the Tigers needed, coming off the left wing to launch a shot from 12 yards out in the center of the field. Grossman struck for his first three goals in a span 2:57 to give Colorado College a 7-0 lead with 4:06 remaining in the first quarter. Senior goaltender Zach Steedman steered aside four shots during the first half to post his first victory of the season. He also scored three goals and set up another in the second half. Freshman Ryan Goodall stopped one shot during the second half to complete CC’s first shutout since a 28-0 victory over Oglethorpe University on April 8, 2011. The Tigers improved to 28-0 all-time in SCAC regular-season games. Colorado College returns to action next Saturday when it plays host to Colorado Mesa University at 1 p.m.

Southwestern set a new record for most wins in a season last week as they improved to 9-4 on the year. This week, they were off.  The Pirates return to action on Saturday as they host their final regular season game, facing Centenary at 7 pm.
