DYLAN MCGEE OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior right handed pitcher from Katy, Texas, has been named the SCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played through Sunday, April 23rd.
McGee sparked Trinity to a three-game SCAC weekend sweep of Austin College by pitching a no-hitter in the series opener on Friday night.
McGee struck out 11 batters and allowed just two walks in a near-flawless seven-inning no-hitter to set the tone for the series against Austin College. The victory over the 'Roos also clinched a spot in the SCAC Tournament for the Tigers. The no-hitter was the first for Trinity since a combined effort in 2015, and marked the first solo no-hitter for a Tiger pitcher since 2006.
For the season, McGee is 4-2 with a 2.65 ERA in 34.0 innings pitched. He has recorded 43 strikeouts in 11 appearances (seven starts), and is holding opponents to a .200 batting average.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore right-hander Matthew Devillier of Centenary won his 11th-straight start, striking out five. Senior right hander Ryan Hammonds of the University of Dallas threw eight shutout innings and held Schreiner to three hits in a series opening victory on the road this past Saturday.
