COLBY SCHMIDT OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a sophomore first baseman from Liberty Hill, Texas, has been named the SCAC Baseball Offensive Player of the Week for games played through Sunday February 19th.
Schmidt began his week with a two-run, walk off homer to give the Pirates a 3-1 win over Huntingdon in the series opener.
For the weekend, Schmidt drove in seven runs, while slugging .667. His performance helped lead Southwestern to a 2-1 series victory.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior first baseman Chance Hatchel of Austin College hit .556 while driving in three runs for the 'Roos. Junior outfielder/pitcher Keaton Boysen of Texas Lutheran hit .500 during the three-game series at UT-Dallas, driving in one run and scoring two. Junior catcher Parker Cormack of Trinity University led the Tigers to a 2-1 record last week, hitting .571 while driving in a pair of runs.
