KRISTA PRATO MATTHEWS OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY a senior forward from Davis, Calif., has been named SCAC Basketball Co-Player-of-the-Week for games played Monday, November 24 and Sunday, November 30.
Prato Matthews scored a double-double in all
three of Trinity’s wins this past week, leading the Tiger
women in improving to a 5-1 overall record this season.
Prato Matthews averaged 23.3 points and 16.7
rebounds per game this past week, hitting 25-46 (54.3%) from the
field and 20-23 (87.0%) from the foul line in the three Trinity
wins. She also had six blocks and five steals to lead the Tigers in
both categories.
In Tuesday’s win over UMHB, Prato Matthews
scored a career-high 30 points to go with 17 rebounds, then
followed that with an impressive 21 points and 19 rebounds in just
22 minutes against Schreiner on Friday. The 19 rebounds tied her
previous career high, and she also had three blocks in the game. On
Saturday, Prato Matthews hit 9-10 from the line on
her way to 19 points and 14 rebounds, dishing out four assists.
For the season, Prato Matthews is second on the
team with 17.2 points/game, but leads the Tigers with 14.3
rebounds/game and nine total blocks. She is shooting 49.3% (36-73)
from the field and 73.8% (31-42) from the free throw line this
year, and is also tied for third on the team with nine total
steals.
