Christina Byler, Hendrix College, Women's Basketball
CHRISTINA
BYLER OF HENDRIX COLLEGE, senior forward from
Little Rock, Ark., has been named SCAC Basketball
Player-of-the-Week for games played Monday, December 14 through
Sunday, December 20.
Byler had a pair of 22 point performances to lead
Hendrix College to a 2-0 week. Byler also joined
the 1,000 career-point club against the Patriots, becoming the 11th
player in program history to reach the milestone.
Byler recorded her second double-double of the
season with 10 rebounds and was 6-of-13 from the field, including
three long balls and 7-of-8 from the charity stripe. She entered
the game need just seven points for her 1,000th career point, which
she got on a free-throw with 2:21 left in the first half, fitting,
considering she is an 87.3 percent (308-353) career free throw
shooter and currently ranks fourth all-time in free throws made.
Tori Huggins (2003-07) holds the record with 560 career free throws
made and an 85.4 percentage.
Byler currently ranks first in the league with a
17.6 ppg average and third in the SCAC with .921 free throw
percentage.
