Danielle Hubenak, Trinity University, Women's Basketball

DANIELLE HUBENAK OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, junior guard from San Antonio, Texas, havs been named SCAC Co-Basketball Player-of-the-Week for games played Monday, January 25 through Sunday, January 31.

Hubenak broke Trinity’s career record for assists, reaching the 300-assist plateau by the close of the weekend. Hubenak had 11 points and six assists against BSC, breaking the record set by Christal Seahorn from 1995-99.

In Saturday night’s game, Hubenak got into foul trouble early in the second half and sat for eight minutes during a comeback by Rhodes. She came back with just over five minutes remaining in regulation, and helped the team erase a three-point deficit and force overtime. In overtime, facing a six-point deficit with just over three minutes left, Hubenak took over the game. She scored Trinity’s final 12 points, hitting three three-pointers and three free throws to close out the victory. She finished with 20 points, six rebounds, and four assists – pushing her career total in assists past 300.

Hubenak averaged 15.5 points, 5.0 assists, and 5.0 rebounds per game over the two games, shooting 53.3% (8-15) from the field and 80% (8-10) from the foul line. Even more impressive, she also hit 7-9 (77.8%) three-pointers over the weekend.
