SCAC announces Spring 2009 Student-Athlete Academic Honor Roll
SUWANEE, Ga. - The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) named a record 1,029 student-athletes to the 2009 SCAC Spring Academic Honor Roll on Wednesday. This year's total eclipsed last year's previous record of 948 student-athletes.

SCAC Announces 2009 All-SCAC Softball Team
SUWANEE, Ga. In exclusive 2009 all-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) voting by the leagues head coaches, Rachel Gill of DePauw University was selected the conferences Offensive Player-of-the-Year for the second time in three years and Megan Soultz of DePauw University was tabbed as Pitcher-of-the-Year for the second straight year. In that same balloting, Southwestern University head coach Angela Froboese was voted SCAC Coach-of-the-Year in her first year as head coach of the Pirates.

Second Grand Slam in Two Days is Difference in First-Round Title Game
Greencastle, Ind. For the second time in two days, an Ohio Northern grand slam decided the final outcome between the Polar Bears and DePauw and this time it was Jackie Mangola who provided the blast that gave Ohio Northern a 4-1 win over the Tigers in the NCAA Division III Softball Championship first-round title game.

SCAC places 19 on NFCA All-Region teams
STARKVILLE, Miss. - The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) placed 19 student-athletes on the 2009 Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III All-Region teams. Rhodes College placed a league-high six players on the All-Region teams followed closely by DePauw University which placed five on the All-Region teams.

DePauw University earns NCAA bid; To play at home in regionals
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - DePauw University (28-7), Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference champions, will represent the SCAC in the 2009 NCAA Division III Softball Championship field of 59 teams. The Tigers, who also were chosen as a regional host, will open up the NCAA tournament at home against North Coast Athletic Conference champion Hiram College (26-14).

SCAC Announces 2009 Softball All-Tournament Team
SAN ANTONIO, Texas Led by all-America pitcher Megan Soultz, 19th-ranked DePauw University earned the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference's automatic bid into the NCAA Championship after defeating Rhodes College, 8-0, in the conference championship game. It was the second straight SCAC softball title for the DU Tigers.

DePauw Wins Fourth Consecutive SCAC President's Trophy
SUWANEE, Ga. - The 2008-09 SCAC President's Trophy came down to the last events of the day on Sunday. With only men's and women's golf to be decided, DePauw University turned a 10-point deficit to Trinity University to a 10-point victory and the Tigers from Indiana clinched their fourth consecutive SCAC President's Trophy.

Hendrix, DePauw Advance to Winners Bracket Semi-Finals in 2009 SCAC Softball Championships
SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS - Hendrix and DePauw advanced to the winners bracket semi-final round in the 2009 SCAC Softball Championships hosted by Trinity University. Hendrix defeated Rhodes 7-2 in the first game of the tournament before defeating Southwestern 4-3 in the second round. DePauw advanced after defeating Trinity 3-1 in the nightcap of day one.

Softball Recap (Week 9) - Around the SCAC
SUWANEE, Ga. - Four of the six spots have been filled for the 2009 SCAC Softball Championships hosted by Trinity University. DePauw clinched the number one seed out of the Eastern Division after sweeping Rhodes in a four game series over the weekend. The DU Tigers have now won 29 straight regular season SCAC games.

SUWANEE, Ga. - The SCAC saw two more milestones reached over the weekend with Millsaps' head coach Roland Rodriguez winning his 200th career game becoming the first coach in SCAC history to do so. Rhodes junior Rebekah Moore clipped the SCAC career home run mark of 20 belting her 21st of her career.

SUWANEE, Ga. - Rhodes continued its hot streak picking up six more wins last week pushing the Lynx win streak to 18 straight. The streak is the fourth longest in SCAC history, DePauw's 2008 streak of 36 stands as the leagues longest. Colorado College To Discontinue Football And Softball

Softball Recap (Week 4) - Around the SCAC
SUWANEE, Ga. - Preseason SCAC favorite, DePauw University, finally got it's season underway with a 4-0 start behind the arm of Megan Soultz. Soultz, the SCAC Pitcher of the Week, pitched 23 scoreless innings while allowing just 11 hits and striking out 26 batters. The Tigers picked up wins against Maryville, Piedmont and Eureka Colleges.

SUWANEE, Ga. - Birmingham-Southern College is the only remaining undefeated team, among the teams who have played in 2009, in the SCAC. The Panthers stayed undefeated this week with two big wins over Maryville (Tenn.) College at home on Sunday. The Panthers won 10-1 in six innings in game one, and 13-0 in five innings in game two.

DePauw softball player assists in US Airways rescue
GREENCASTLE, Ind. - Like many students, juniors Megan Soultz and Matthew Nance seized the opportunity to take a Winter Term internship, theirs with the New York City Fire Department. What they didn't expect was the chance to assist with a large-scale emergency that dominated national headlines: the rescue of 155 passengers and crew on Flight 1539 from New York's LaGuardia Airport on January 15.

Rhodes College Softball to "Hit for a Cure" for Cervical Cancer
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Lynx Softball team will battle Crichton College on Saturday, September 27 at 10am, in a game that will be played to benefit and raise awareness for cervical cancer. Saturday's "Hit for a Cure" will be a culmination of a week-long effort by the players, in which all proceeds will benefit the Stephanie Vasofsky Cervical Cancer Foundation.
