Three SCAC Men's Basketball Players Named to All-Region Team

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Three Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men's basketball student-athletes were named to the All-South Region Team Monday. D3hoops All-South Region Team

Texas Lutheran University's Sterling Holmes and Centenary College's James Sapp earned  Second Team honors, while Colorado College's John Hatch was a Third Team selection.

Holmes, a senior guard from San Antonio, Texas, led the Bulldogs to a third consecutive SCAC tournament championship and a berth in the NCAA tournament. Holmes ranked fifth in the league, averaging 16.7 points per game, while shooting 45.1% from the field. He also grabbed 5.6 rebounds per game while dishing out 2.9 assists. Holmes also earned first team All-SCAC honors this season.

Sapp, a senior forward from Shongaloo, La., came out strong in his final season, leading the conference in both scoring and rebounding, averaging 21.5 points and 10.1 rebounds per game. Sapp shot 48.1% from the field which was eighth in the league, while knocking down 82.1% of his shots from the charity stripe, third best in the SCAC. Sapp was named the SCAC Player of the Year for the second time in his career during the league tournament.

Hatch, a junior forward from Lodi, Wisc., helped lead the Tigers to a second place finish in the regular season. He ranked third in the league with 17.5 points per game, while shooting 44.7% from the field and 41.3% from distance. Hatch led the conference with 62 blocks, which ranks 24th in the nation. He also recorded 42 assists and 33 steals this season.
