Sara Sanders, Rhodes College, Field Hockey (Defensive)
SARA SANDERS
OF RHODES COLLEGE, a sophomore defender from
Louisville, Ky., has been selected as the SCAC Field Hockey
Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played Monday, October 19
through Sunday, October 25.
Sanders had three stellar performances this week
in the Lynx 3-1 loss to #9 Lynchburg, and wins at home over Sewanee
and DePauw. Sanders was the Lynx only defender to
play all 140 minutes in the two conference match-ups in which
Rhodes held Sewanee and DePauw to a combined six shots.
Sanders has incredible ball control and a strong
hit which make her a threat offensively as well as huge factor on
the defensive end.
Sanders is an integral part of the team’s
corner defense unit, which has been scored on only once in the last
11 games, successfully defending 76 of 77 penalty corner attempts
by opponents since September 19th.
