Sarah Humphries, Centre College, Field Hockey (Offensive)

SARAH HUMPHRIES OF CENTRE COLLEGE, a junior back from Baltimore, Md., has been selected as the SCAC Field Hockey Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played Monday, August 31 through Sunday, September 6.

Humphries scored two goals and posted two assists in the Colonels come from behind win against a feisty Lindenwood University team and added two more quality shots in Centre's dramatic 4-3 victory over NCAA Division-II foe Bellarmine University to open the 2009 season.

Humphries, a back for Centre, notched all six points on penalty corners and drove the Colonels back from the brink of defeat against a very efficient Lindenwood attack on Saturday, Sept. 5. Against Bellarmine, Humphries played a very solid defensive match helping Centre thwart several dangerous Bellarmine chances in regulation. Centre won both matches in overtime with game-winning goals by freshman Barbara Parks.
