Major Changes for the SCAC Following 2011-12 Academic Year
SUWANEE, Ga. – In an expected announcement made today at the annual spring meeting of the league’s Board of Directors, the Presidents of Birmingham-Southern College, Centre College, Hendrix College, Millsaps College, Oglethorpe University, Rhodes College and Sewanee-The University of the South declared their intent to withdraw from the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference effective June 30, 2012.

Tjeerdsma Returns To Austin College
SHERMAN, Texas - Mel Tjeerdsma, head football coach of the Austin College Kangaroos for 10 seasons before beginning a record-breaking career in Division II coaching at Northwest Missouri State University, will join the Development team in the Austin College Institutional Advancement Division this fall, leading fundraising efforts for athletics enhancement in addition to other responsibilities.

Long time Rhodes College football coach passes away
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Coach John Whittaker, who served as a part-time Assistant Football Coach for Rhodes College since 1987, passed away peacefully in his sleep early Tuesday morning. Better known as Coach Whit to Lynx football players, Whittaker has been a fixture on the Rhodes sideline, serving as Coach Gordon Ellingsworth's assistant with the offensive line.

Black steps down as Head Football Coach at Sewanee
SEWANEE, Tenn. - Sewanee Head Coach Robert Black, C’89, has stepped down from his role atop the Tiger football program according to Athletic Director Mark Webb. The University announced Thursday that Black, who has been Sewanee’s head coach since 2007, will move into University Relations as a major gift officer effective April 1.

Trinity's Miracle Play Selected Top SCAC Football Moment
SUWANEE, Ga. - In what many have called the most incredible ending to any football game at any level, Trinity University used 15 laterals as seven different players touched the ball to go 60 yards and score on the final play of the October 27, 2007 game against Millsaps College - capping an improbable and shocking 28-24 victory. The play - dubbed the Mississippi Miracle - has been named the Top Moment in the history of SCAC football.

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Millsaps College's Matt O'Bryant and Trinity University's Jerheme Urban were both named to the D3football.com All-Decade team, the website announced. O'Bryant and Urban were both fourth-team selections and the only two SCAC representatives on the team.

HDNet to Remain Home of Monon Bell Classic Telecasts

The two institutions and the national high definition television network have agreed on a new three-year contract.
