Wells enters her sixth year at the helm for the Lynx after
a 2009 season that included the best record in program history
(13-4) as well as SCAC Regular Season and Tournament
Championships.
In the seven seasons she has been with the program,
Rhodes amassed an overall record of 71-44 and captured three SCAC
Championships (2004 2006 and 2009) and five regular season titles
(2004-2007, 2009). Wells' coaching resume also includes 3 years of
directing the field hockey program at Camp All Star
(’03-’05), a summer sports camp in Maine as well as two
years of coaching for Gateway Field Hockey Camps.
A native of Richmond, VA, Wells is a Rhodes Alumna, having received
her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Sociology in
2003. Since graduation she has been employed at Rhodes serving
first as the Assistant Coordinator of Recreational Services,
working with the intramural and club sports programs as well as
assisting with the field hockey and softball programs and adding
Head Field Hockey Coaching responsibilities in March of 2005.
As a student-athlete at Rhodes Wells competed in 3 seasons of field
hockey and softball. While sidelined her junior year with a knee
injury, she was able to serve as a student assistant coach for both
sports. As a student assistant coach she helped guide the Lynx
field hockey squad to their first conference championship, a KIT
title in 2001. She captained both teams as a senior and served on
the Student Athlete Advisory Committee. Wells was an All Conference
Selection as well as an NFHCA Academic All American.
In addition to her coaching responsibilities Wells also
serves as the Coordinator of Recreational Services, working
with intramural, club sport, and fitness programs. Outside of
field hockey Jane enjoys athletic activities, being involved
in service and traveling. Wells has served as the staff
leader on four Rhodes Rebuilds spring break trips to New
Orleans and spent four weeks in the summer of 2009
volunteering in Cambodia. Anything outside and active will
hold her attention including biking, hiking, team sports, and
golf.
